TVS Motor to refund INR 20 crore to customers as goodwill benefit scheme

PTI – In a statement, TVS Motor Company Director and CEO K N Radhakrishnan said the company is fully committed to the government’s vision to promote electric mobility. The company also fully supports the government’s initiative to enable faster adoption of electric mobility, development of electric vehicle eco-system, he added.

TVS Motor Company on Wednesday said it will refund around INR 20 crore as a goodwill benefit scheme to customers who have paid over and above the threshold limit fixed under the FAME scheme. The company however maintained that it has fully complied with all government regulations specified under the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India) initiative.

PTI – “We would like to update that the Board of Directors in its meeting held on May 1, decided to file an application to CCI for making investment in equity shares of Pricol Ltd upto 24.5 per cent of total equity shares of Pricol, at this stage,” Minda Corporation said in a regulatory filing.

Auto component maker Minda Corporation on Tuesday said its board has decided to approach the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to increase its stake in automotive technology firm Pricol to upto 24.5 per cent. On February 17, 2023, Minda Corporation had acquired a 15.7 per cent stake in Pricol by purchasing over 1.91 crore shares of the latter from the open market.

India will achieve 20% ethanol- blended petrol target by 2025: Piyush Goyal

PTI – The minister highlighted that the blending of ethanol with petrol has increased to 10 per cent in 2021-22 marketing year from just 1.53 per cent in 2013-14 on the back of efforts made by farmers and industry, aided by favourable government policies. He said the supply of ethanol to oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased to 408 crore litre in 2021-22 from 38 crore litre in 2013-14.

Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday expressed confidence that the country will achieve the target of 20 per cent blending of ethanol with petrol by 2025 and asserted that maize crop will play an important role in implementation of this programme. Addressing a national seminar on maize to ethanol, Goyal said ethanol is a “sunrise sector” and asked the industry to set up factories for manufacturing of this green fuel which can operate on dual feed stock (sugarcane and food grains).

May 3 (Reuters) – Ford Motor Co (F.N) expects to take up restructuring charges between $1.5 billion and $2 billion in 2023, it said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday, as part of the U.S. automaker’s move to exit unprofitable locations and cut headcount.

The charges will be primarily attributable to “employee separations and supplier settlements,” the automaker said, adding additional restructuring actions may be taken “where a path to sustained profitability is not feasible when considering the capital allocation required for those businesses.”

STOCKHOLM, May 3 (Reuters) – Sweden-based Volvo Cars (VOLCARb.ST) said on Wednesday that sales increased by 10% year-on-year in April to 51,976 cars, boosted by strong gains in China.

Volvo Cars, which is majority-owned by China’s Geely Holding (0175.HK), said in a statement that sales in China were up 46%. In Europe, its biggest market, sales were up 5%, while in the U.S. they were down 4%.

BERLIN, May 3 (Reuters) – Luxury carmaker Porsche (P911_p.DE) will raise prices by 4-8% in Europe and the U.S. in the second half to combat higher costs that weighed on returns in the first quarter, even as profits and revenue jumped by over 25%, it said on Wednesday.

The company was still seeing issues with the supply of semiconductors and parts for the electric Taycan’s high voltage heating system, but expects them to ease in the coming months, Chief Financial Officer Lutz Meschke said on a call following first quarter results.

May 2 (Reuters) – Ford Motor Co (F.N) on Tuesday posted robust first-quarter revenue and profit, thanks to strong demand for trucks and SUVs, but issued a measured full-year outlook tempered by continued losses in its electric-vehicle unit.

In a late briefing, Ford Chief Executive Officer Jim Farley said he hopes the company becomes “boringly predictable” at meeting investor expectations. Ford missed Wall Street estimates for the fourth quarter, leaving $2 billion on the table, Farley said earlier this year.

May 1 (Reuters) – Lordstown Motors (RIDE.O) warned on Monday it might be forced to file for bankruptcy due to uncertainty over a $170 million investment deal with its major shareholder Foxconn (2317.TW), sending shares of the Ohio-based electric truck maker down 23%.

Foxconn struck a deal in November to take a near-20% stake in the money-losing U.S. firm for up to $170 million. It has since invested $52.7 million and is balking at purchasing additional shares, citing a breach of their agreement, Lordstown said.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Leitman said that while Versata Software, which licensed software to Ford from 1998 to 2015, offered sufficient evidence of a contract breach, it did not offer evidence to let jurors calculate damages accurately.

May 1 (Reuters) – General Motors Co (GM.N) on Monday said it had cut several hundred full-time contract workers over the weekend including at its engineering hub in suburban Detroit, the latest effort by the U.S. automaker to streamline operations.

The contractors losing their jobs were within global product development at locations such as the company’s Warren Tech Center. The Wall Street Journal reported the job cuts earlier.

New Delhi, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot has directed the department to constitute a committee to conduct a study of routes for “mohalla” bus service, which aims to improve last-mile connectivity in the national capital. Maruti Suzuki India remains “vulnerable to supply side bottlenecks” this fiscal even as it looks to source electronic components through multiple sources, according to a senior company official. The country’s largest carmaker, which could not produce around 1.7 lakh units last fiscal due to semiconductor shortage, is also coming up with measures to reduce the usage of certain kinds of chips in its cars.

PTI – Nayara, the largest private fuel retailer that owns over 7 per cent of India’s 86,855 petrol pumps, started pricing petrol and diesel at market rates sometime in March and RBML’s 1,555 petrol pumps are selling diesel at par from this month.

India’s private fuel retailers Reliance-bp and Russia’s Rosneft-backed Nayara Energy have begun pricing petrol and diesel at market rates for the first time in over a year after a fall in global oil prices cut losses, sources said.
