MILAN, July 7 (Reuters) – Pirelli (PIRC.MI) said on Friday its Chinese investor Sinochem (600500.SS) had put forward a new top executive as chairman at the Italian tyre maker — a move that could help to ease tensions between its main shareholders.

July 7 (Reuters) – German carmaker BMW’s (BMWG.DE) sales grew significantly in the second quarter, rising 11.3% compared with the same quarter last year to 626,726 vehicles.

WASHINGTON, July 6 (Reuters) – U.S. auto safety regulators said on Thursday they are seeking updated responses and current data for an ongoing probe into 830,000 Tesla vehicles and the automaker’s advanced driver assistance system Autopilot.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) sent Tesla a letter on July 3 seeking updates to questions it had asked in August 2022 and is now demanding answers by July 19, according to a copy of the letter made public by the agency. SHANGHAI, July 5 (Reuters) – Chinese electric-vehicle maker Xpeng (9868.HK) forecast sharp growth in deliveries in the second half of the year thanks to its new model that is taking on Tesla (TSLA.O) with competitive prices and smart-driving technologies.

Xpeng has received a “significant” amount of orders for its newly launched G6 pure electric crossover, president Brain Gu told reporters on Wednesday. A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad rejected the petition and orally observed that this amounted to gross misuse of a public interest litigation (PIL).

The high court’s order came on a petition by Chaalak Shakti, a drivers’ union, which has challenged mandatory uniform for auto rickshaw and taxi drivers and alleged that such labelling was in violation of the Constitution. Source : PTI The government has issued draft notification on Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), which proposes awarding ‘Star Ratings’ to automobiles based on their performance in crash tests. The government aims to implement the programme from October 1, 2023. “The BNCAP shall be applicable on the type approved vehicles of category M1 of gross vehicle weight less than 3.5 tonne, manufactured or imported, as specified in the programme,” the draft notification issued by Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways said.

“We expect the Indian oil marketing companies’ marketing segment to turn profitable from the financial year ending March 2024 (FY24) as crude oil prices fall to Fitch’s assumption of USD 78.8 per barrel, following large losses in FY23 due to high crude prices and unchanged retail fuel prices,” it said. July 3 (Reuters) – Australia’s Kuniko (KNI.AX) said on Monday it had signed an offtake and equity investment agreement with automaker Stellantis (STLAM.MI) to support the development of its Norwegian battery metals projects.
