• Passenger Vehicles sales were 3,77,689 units in February 2025.
• Three-wheeler sales were 57,788 units in February 2025
• Two-wheeler sales were 13,84,605 units in February 2025.

Commenting on February-2025 performance, Mr Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM said, “Passenger Vehicles segment remained resilient and posted its highest ever sales of February in 2025 of 3.78 Lakh units, with a growth of 1.9% as compared to February 2024. (Reuters) – German automaker BMW is telling dealers in the U.S. it will absorb the added cost of new tariffs on its imports from Mexico, at least for the next several weeks, a spokesperson for the company said on Wednesday.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the news.

Source : PTI | Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) on Tuesday said the company is in the process of investing Rs 700 crore in decarbonisation projects to achieve its net-zero goals by 2050. The investments will continue over next five years to set up various environment-friendly projects, which include renewable energy, green hydrogen, biodiversity conservation, waste management and adoption of carbon capture technologies, JSL said in a statement.

“By investing Rs 700 crore in decarbonisation projects over the next five years…aim is to achieve financial and environmental goals, significantly reducing GHG emissions and carbon intensity by 50 per cent by FY35, and accomplishing net-zero emissions by 2050,” the company said. Source : PTI | A lobby grouping of non-bank lenders on Tuesday said they have sought a scheme to incentivise electric vehicle finance in the country on the lines of FAME or production-linked incentive schemes. In a recent meeting with the central government’s think tank Niti Aayog, the Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC) said while a shift to electric vehicles is pivotal to achieving decarbonisation goals, EV financing is a “bottleneck”.

“Just as the government supported and incentivised manufacturing of EVs through FAME (Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) and PLI (production-linked incentives) schemes, a similar initiative for the financiers is the need of the hour,” the FIDC said in a memorandum. Source : PTI | New Delhi: The Delhi government has announced key highlights of the proposed Delhi EV Policy 2.0, aiming to make 95 per cent of new vehicle registrations electric by 2027. The policy, reviewed by Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, outlines a roadmap to accelerate the city’s transition to electric mobility while strengthening its position as India’s leader in EV adoption, an official statement of the Delhi Transport Ministry said on Monday.

Under the new policy, all CNG auto-rickshaws, taxis and light commercial vehicles will be replaced by electric vehicles (EVs) in a phased manner. The government has also committed to a full transition to electric buses to ensure a sustainable public transport system.

Source : PTI | The Maharashtra government on Monday proposed a 6 per cent tax on electric vehicles priced more than Rs 30 lakh in the budget for the fiscal 2025-26. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled the budget and announced a 1 per cent hike in the Motor Vehicle Tax on CNG and LPG vehicles.

Addressing the gathering, Vaishnaw said electric mobility remains a focus area for the government. The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) released a report on payments to Russia for fossil fuels since February 24, 2022.

Source : PTI | Electric passenger vehicle retail sales rose 19 per cent in February to 8,968 units with Tata Motors retaining the top slot in the segment, as per data released by dealers’ body FADA. The total electric passenger vehicle retail sales stood at 7,539 units in the same month last year.

Tata Motors sold 3,825 units while MG Motor India retailed 3,270 units last month.

“Electric passenger vehicles recorded a healthy 18.95 per cent year-on-year increase, reflecting growing consumer awareness and adoption of EVs in the personal mobility space, now achieving a market share of 3 per cent,” FADA President C S Vigneshwar said in a statement. WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The Government Accountability Office said on Thursday the Biden administration’s approval of California’s landmark plan to end the sale of gasoline-only vehicles by 2035 is not subject to review and potential repeal by Congress.

Last month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under President Donald Trump sent the approval to Congress saying it was properly considered a rule under the Congressional Review Act. DETROIT, (Reuters) – Volkswagen said on Thursday that its vehicles made in North America will likely avoid being subject to the 25% tariffs U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed on imports from Mexico and Canada, but other carmakers, including BMW, may not be exempt.

Trump granted a one-month reprieve on tariffs to automakers who complied with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) rules of origin this week, after saying such duties would go into effect March 4. DUESSELDORF, (Reuters) – Volkswagen will focus the sales strategy for its 20,000-euro ($21,580.00) electric car coming out in 2027 on Europe, its brand chief said on Wednesday, adding the carmaker needed until then to bring down battery costs to sell it at that price.
