GUANGZHOU, China, (Reuters) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Friday that concerns are growing over the global economic fallout from China’s excess manufacturing capacity, making the issue the main focus of four days of economic meetings with Chinese officials.

MILAN, (Reuters) – Production of passenger cars and vans at Stellantis’ Italian plants fell 9.8% year-on-year in the first three months of this year to 170,415 units, the FIM-CISL union said on Friday.

The automaker is holding discussions with the Italian government over a plan to reverse a multi-year trend of falling production in the country and take it back to one million units by the end of this decade, implying an overall output growth of around 25% compared to last year. HANOI, (Reuters) – Vietnam’s trade ministry said on Thursday that automaker Chery (CHERY.UL) had signed a joint venture agreement with a local company to set up an $800 million plant, becoming the first Chinese electric vehicle maker to set up a facility in Vietnam.

The manufacturing plant, which will be jointly established by Chery’s Omoda&Jaecoo unit and Vietnamese company Geleximco, will be in the costal province of Thai Binh, the ministry said in a statement following a signing ceremony. NCLAT upheld orders passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI), and said there was a “meeting of mind” with other parties, which were participating in the bidding process of certain tenders of the Indian Railways.

Source : PTI | New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked state-owned NHAI to go ahead with the calculation of new user fee (toll) rates on highways, which kicks in annually from April 1 across most of tolled highway stretches in the country, but said the new rates should be applicable only after the Lok Sabha elections. According to documents accessed by PTI, ECI has asked the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) to defer toll fee hike. The ECI was responding to a communication from road transport and highways minister in this regard.

BEIJING, (Reuters) – BYD, China’s biggest electric vehicle (EV) maker, reported first quarter 2024 sales fell 43% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, handing back the title of world’s biggest EV seller to Tesla after winning it last year.

BYD sold 300,114 EVs in the first quarter of this year, it said in a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange late on Monday, down from a record quarterly high of 526,409 units sold in the previous three-month period, when it surpassed Tesla.
