HONG KONG, (Reuters) – SAIC Volkswagen, responding to reports it would close its Nanjing plant, said on Saturday that adjusting its production base was “normal and necessary”, Chinese media outlet Yicai reported.

(Reuters) – General Motors will lay off 1,695 workers at its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas, the company said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice earlier this week.

(Reuters) – Unifor members at the CAMI Assembly and Battery Assembly plants in Ontario have ratified a two-year contract with General Motors that achieves significant pay increases, the Canadian labor union said on Sunday.

Launched in 2011, Gramin Sewa is a para-transit scheme under which high-capacity three-wheelers with a seating capacity of six passengers were given permits to ply in rural areas, unauthorised resettlement colonies, and JJ (jhuggi-jhopri) clusters of Delhi.

“It is ordered that the replacement of the existing Gramin Sewa vehicles shall be by electric vehicles, with a maximum seating capacity of six passengers plus a driver, duly approved by MORTH’s (Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways) authorised testing agency,” a transport department order issued on Wednesday said. EMDEN, Germany, (Reuters) – German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Friday that he wants to help Volkswagen get through a period of cost-cutting without having to resort to site closures, reflecting concerns about the country’s biggest carmaker.

State-run Kadamba Transport Corporation chairman Ulhas Tuenkar said the proposal is a welcome one and will go a long way in reviving the transport undertaking.

“IIT Alumni has agreed to spend INR 700 crore for the revival of mass public transport in the state. It has been approved by the cabinet. The state government plans to roll out 500 EV buses under this initiative,” the chief minister told PTI.

Renault-Nissan, in February 2023, had announced investments of USD 600 million (about INR 5,300 crore) in India, to bring in six new products, including two electric cars, and an upgradation of their Chennai plant.
