PTI | More than 1.73 lakh people were killed and 4,47,969 others were injured in road accidents  across the country in 2023 with 45.8 per cent of the victims riding two wheelers, while over-speeding were found to be the two major causes of road accidents, according to a report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Most of the road accidents, 95,984 out of the total 4,64,029, in the country in 2023 were reported during 6 pm to 9 pm, accounting for 20.7 per cent of the total road accidents. From 3 pm to 6 pm and 12 noon to 3 pm accounted for 17.3 per cent (80,482 cases) and 15 per cent (69,397 cases), respectively. SAO PAULO, (Reuters) – Workers for Toyota in Brazil voted overwhelmingly on Sunday to approve a plan for temporary layoffs following storm damage to one of the Japanese carmaker’s factories in the state of Sao Paulo, according to a statement from the workers union.

Heavy rain and winds on September 22 severely damaged Toyota’s Porto Feliz factory, a facility where engines are manufactured, initially forcing the company to halt production there and at its Sorocaba facility, where vehicles including the Yaris, Corolla and Corolla Cross are assembled. Nearly 7500 taxis, rickshaws, bikes fined ₹1.63 cr by Maharashtra transport department in MMR

Source : PTI | The Maharashtra transport department has taken action against nearly 7500 taxis, auto rickshaws and two-wheelers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region between April 1 and August 25 for violations and collected fines totalling ₹1.63 crore, an official said on Thursday.

The transport department has also registered FI₹against some app-based aggregators at Azad Maidan, Samata Nagar and Amboli police stations for illegally ferrying passengers using private two-wheelers through their platform.
