Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that if India can use recently discovered reserve of lithium in Jammu and Kashmir, it can become world’s number one automobile manufacturer in electric vehicle segment. Addressing an event organised by industry body CII, the road, transport and highway minister said there is a need to encourage public transport, and electric buses are the future.
MEXICO CITY, March 21(Reuters) – With Tesla Inc’s plan to open a $5 billion Gigafactory in Mexico, the country should soon become a hub of electric vehicle (EV) production, but the zero emissions cars remain too expensive for most Mexicans and they are impractical to drive in much of the country, which lacks enough charging stations.
Mexico has made reviving fossil fuel output a priority under President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, frequently giving short shrift to investment in renewable power sources.

PTI – According to it, the total number of motor vehicles on Delhi roads in 2021-22 was 79.18 lakh, a 35.38 per cent decrease since the Delhi government banned diesel vehicles aged over 10 years and petrol vehicles which are more than 15 years old.
The total number of vehicles on the roads of the national capital has declined by more than 35 per cent since the city government banned plying of overage vehicles, according to the Economic Survey of Delhi 2022-23, report. Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot tabled the Delhi Economic Survey in the Assembly on Monday.

BEIJING/MELBOURNE, Feb 28 (Reuters) – Rare discounts offered by Chinese battery giant CATL (300750.SZ) to automakers have accelerated a plunge in lithium prices, and the market is set to drop a further 25% with supply growth outpacing demand, analysts and traders say.
PTI – Going forward, while price hikes and sequential input cost reductions can boost margins in the near term, geopolitical tensions, recessionary concerns, and forex volatility continue to pose risks, the agency said.
India Inc’s operating profit margin narrowed by a sharp 2.37 per cent in the December quarter to 16.3 per cent on an annual basis due to inflation and rising energy costs, a domestic ratings agency said on Monday. When viewed sequentially, the operating profit margin for the December quarter expanded by 1.80 per cent over the preceding September quarter, Icra Ratings said, attributing the same to the easing in input costs and also price hikes by many companies.

It was done to demonstrate the readiness of automobile manufacturers for ethanol adoption through multiple segments of FFVs slated to be launched, particularly in the 4 wheelers and 2 wheelers segment.
Hon’ble Minister Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India inaugurated the demonstration session where the vehicle features and technological developments were showcased to emphasize the use of FFVs and future possibilities. New Delhi, 19th October 2022: Aligned with the Government of India’s vision to promote the usage of biofuels for transportation, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) conducted an International Conference on ‘Biofuels – A Pathway towards Sustainable Future’, at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The Conference was organized as a part of year-round activities to promote ethanol. The program witnessed participation from automotive industry experts, government officials, academia, and other stakeholder associations including the ambassador and experts from Brazil.
The Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) is a major project of the Towards Zero Foundation, a UK registered charity. It promotes the universal adoption of the United Nation’s most important motor vehicle safety standards worldwide.

Delhi government has reportedly received over 2,000 complaints flagging old or abandoned vehicles parked in the capital city in just two days. Complaints started flowing in as soon as the government issued WhatsApp number dedicated for the purpose, as reported by PTI. The service has been opened up to allow RWAs and market associations to report old cars parked around the city.
Citizens, RWAs and market associations immediately started sending pictures and reporting parked old cars around Delhi. However, the transport department does need to verify the details of these vehicles to ascertain their age and if they are unfit to run in the capital city. The details of the vehicles will be verified through the registration database of the transport department. As per authorities, there are approximately 25 lakh old and unfit vehicles in the capital city currently. If an old vehicle is reported and verified to be of unfit age, they will be impounded and handed over to authorised scrapping centres. The WhatsApp helpline can be reached on +91 8376050050
