Guillaume Cartier

Guillaume Cartier is a seasoned automotive executive with more than three decades of experience across sales, marketing, business transformation, commercial operations and international automotive markets. He currently serves as Chief Performance Officer at Nissan Motor Corporation, having previously led Nissan’s Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania (AMIEO) region as Chairperson.

Guillaume Cartier began his career with Nissan in 1995, initially working in sales operations in France. Over the years, he progressed through a series of international leadership positions, including roles in Nissan Europe, Nissan Nordic Europe and Nissan Motor GB, gaining extensive experience in sales, marketing, retail operations and market development.

In 2013, he became Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Nissan Europe. He subsequently moved into broader global and regional responsibilities, including leadership of the Global Marketing & Sales function and the Datsun business. He also served as an Executive Officer and Senior Vice President at Mitsubishi Motors, strengthening his experience across the wider Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

Guillaume Cartier was appointed Chairperson of Nissan’s AMIEO region in 2021, leading operations across Africa, the Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania. The region covered more than 140 markets across four continents and represented a significant part of Nissan’s global business. During his tenure, he focused on business transformation, sustainable growth, customer experience and strengthening Nissan’s regional operations.

In December 2024, Guillaume Cartier took on the global role of Chief Performance Officer, while continuing as Chairperson of the AMIEO region. In 2025, Nissan expanded his responsibilities to include global marketing and customer experience, reflecting his broader role in driving performance and transformation across the company.

From October 1, 2025, Massimiliano Messina succeeded Guillaume Cartier as Chairperson of the AMIEO region, allowing Cartier to focus fully on his global responsibilities as Chief Performance Officer. His career at Nissan continues to centre on improving business performance, accelerating transformation and strengthening customer-focused growth.

Guillaume Cartier holds a degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from ESTACA and a Master’s degree in Marketing and Business from ESSEC Business School. His combination of technical education and extensive international commercial experience has made him an influential leader within the global automotive industry.

With extensive experience across Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors and the wider Alliance, Guillaume Cartier brings expertise in automotive sales, marketing, business transformation, customer experience, international operations and commercial strategy, contributing to Nissan’s evolution as the automotive industry moves toward electrification, digitalisation and new mobility solutions.
