Source : PTI | Automobile dealers apex body FADA on Friday said it has reappointed Sachin Vasantrao Mahajan as the chairperson for the Maharashtra wing for the third consecutive term.
Along with this, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) also released its vehicle retail data for the state for August.
Mahajan, who is based in Nashik, is the Managing Partner and CEO of Mahaveer Wheels and Mahajan Isuzu and has dealerships of Ashok Leyland, Classic Legends, Switch Mobility EV and ISUZU Motor India, FADA said.
The automobile dealers’ body on Thursday appointed Shailender Luthra as the state Chairperson for Delhi. Luthra is the Director at Delhi-based Brite Autowheels Pvt Ltd and has dealerships of Skoda, Nissan and Royal Enfield.
According to FADA, the total vehicle sales in Maharashtra grew 11.66 per cent to 2,66,253 units in August from 2,38,442 units in the corresponding month of last year.
Within this, two-wheeler sales rose 11.05 per cent to 1,90,898 units compared with 1,64,492 units in August 2025, while passenger vehicle sales stood at 51,248 units in the previous month, up 7.54 per cent from 47,654 units in the month year-ago.
Three-wheeler sales, however, declined a massive 37.88 per cent to 4,323 units in August 2026 from 6,959 units in the same month of 2025, it said, adding that commercial vehicle retail sales shot up 33.32 per cent in the reporting month from 11,135 in the year-ago period.
“2W grew 16.1 per cent, slightly below national growth of 19.7 per cent, despite a large absolute increase of 26,406 units. Petrol/Ethanol grew 12.5 per cent, below national growth of 16 per cent,” Mahajan said.
Carry-forward bookings, new colours and improving customer enquiries supported demand, he said and added that Ganesh Chaturthi shifted to September, resulting in delivery postponement, while price reductions on popular models also supported conversions.
FADA earlier this month said that total vehicle retail sales in the country increased 17.51 per cent to 24,23,201 units in August against 20,62,038 units in the corresponding month last year.
During the reporting month, FADA said two-wheeler sales surged 19.69 per cent year-on-year to 17,14,610 units and passenger vehicle sales were up 16.14 per cent to 4,02,398 vehicles from 3,46,468 units in August 2025.
