VW India today showcased the India Spec Production Model of the Taigun SUV. It’s based on the latest All new MQB AO IN Platform which also powers the Skoda Kushaq.

It is directly pitched in the hot selling segment of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Taigun has a class leading wheelbase of 2651 mm which should make it one of the most spacious.

The dual tone interiors look upmarket and premium. The Cockpit is truly digital as it boasts of a 10.1″ touchscreen compatible with Apple car play and Android auto and a 10.2″ Digital Instrument cluster.

The luxury touch gets enhanced by ambient lights, panoramic moonroof and ventilated seats for front passengers.

The Bright Red Brake Callipers in the Top End GT trim, LED Headlamps with DRLs and the GT logo on the Bright Chrome grill with chrome embellishments on lower bumper, new, big and bold VW logo truly exhibit SUVW DNA and an indomitable road presence.

The Back of the Taigun is equally desirable. The continuous running red led light bar across the tail gate merges with the c Shaped tail lamps on each end, reminiscent of  the Porsche 911 or the Panamera.

Taigun shall ride on 17″ tyres with flared and pronounced wheel arches.

Safety is never optional at VW and Taigun personifies the same philosophy.

Taigun shall come with the following engine and transmission options :

1 L turbo 3 Cyl Petrol TSI Engine

115 PS Power and 175 NM Torque

Transmission : 6 Speed Manual or 6 Speed Torque Convertor ( AT)

1.5 L turbo 4 Cyl Petrol TSI Engine

150 PS Power and 250 NM Torque

Transmission : 6 Speed Manual or 7 Speed DSG AT

As of now no plans to launch Diesel Powertrain.

Kudos to Skoda VW Engineers and Supply Chain Function

Taigun shall boast of 95% Localisation. This is a commendable feat of the Engineers & Supply Chain Professionals at Skoda VW India who have worked tirelessly through last year even during lockdowns.  Apart from the price advantage, this feat shall also make India the global hub for exporting Taigun.

“Taigun, in particular can give VW India, a clear and distinct competitive advantage, mindshare, wallet share, profitability and volumes,” says Anuj Guglani, CEO, World Auto Forum

World Auto Forum wishes VW India all the very best for the Taigun.
