Top 25 Selling Cars in India for June 2021 – Over 58% of sales came from Maruti Suzuki!

The Top 25 Selling Cars constituted over 80% of the cars sold in June 2021. It had 11 models from Maruti, 4 from Hyundai, 3 from Tata & Mahindra, 2 from Kia, and 1 each from Nissan & Ford. In terms of volumes, Maruti Suzuki models contributed to over 58 percent volumes in the Top 25!

OEMwise Count in the Top 25 selling cars –

  • Maruti had 11 models in the Top 25. On average; the volumes were 11,044 units/car.

  • Hyundai had 4 models in the Top 25 and averaged 7,482 units per model.

  • Tata with 3 models in the list averaged 6,421 units per model.

  • Kia had 2 offerings in the Top 25 and averaged 7,256 per model (which was higher than Tata).

  • M&M even with three models fared below Kia & Tata as per model average was 4,840 units.

Also find mentioned the Body Style Count in the Top 25 –

  • Hatchbacks dominated with 10 models in the Top 25.

  • SUVs matched Hatchbacks with 10 models and MUVs had 3 models in the Top 25. Overall UVs had 13 models on the list!

  • Sedans have only 1 offering in the Top 25 and was Sub-4m Compact Sedan – Maruti Dzire.

  • Maruti Suzuki had a lion’s share in the list with 10 of its models of which the Top 6 were Maruti models – Wagon R, Swift, Baleno, Brezza, Dzire, and Alto. Maruti’s Wagon-R dethroned the siblings Swift and Alto to take the Top Slot in model-wise rank for June 2021.   • Hyundai had 4 models faring in the Top 25 cars. Creta ranked seventh in the table and became the best-selling Mid SUV for June 2021! Creta was closely followed by Grand i10 Nios with dispatches of 8,787 units and the model grew 145 percent over June 2020 as well. Venue sales slipped and could post dispatches of just 4,865 units – it hence was the fourth best-selling Sub-4m Compact SUV of June 2021.

  • Hyundai continues its dominance in the SUV segment – Had Creta as the segment leader of the Mid SUV Segment in June 2021. Also, Venue and Alcazar sales supported accordingly.

  • Tata Nexon and Altroz did stellar volumes and ranked 12th and 13th in the list. Nexon recorded dispatches of over 8k units and emerged as the second best-selling Compact SUV of June 2021.

  • The other homegrown Indian MNC Mahindra too had 3 models on the list (Bolero, XUV300 & Scorpio). Mahindra was also able to hold its fourth position in manufacturer rankings in June 2021.
