Source : PTI | New Delhi: Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland on Monday said it sold 1,98, 113 units in the Calendar Year (CY) 2023, surpassing its previous sales record of 1,96,579 units achieved in 2018. This record achievement underscores the company’s product versatility and strong market presence, solidifying its position in the segment both in the domestic and international markets, the company said in a statement.
“Looking ahead, we are poised for even greater success as we continue to invest in cutting-edge technologies, sustainable operating practices, and customer-centric market initiatives to drive the next phase of growth for Ashok Leyland,” said Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO at Ashok Leyland.
Commercial vehicle industry in the country had clocked its best-ever sales in CY2018 at 10,05,380 units, posting a year-on-year growth of 27%.
Ashok Leyland in December had domestic sales at 15,323 units, recording a 10% decline compared to 17,112 units in December 2022. At 10,102 units, domestic MHCV sales reported a YoY decline of 11% in December 2023 against 11,399 units in December 2022. Ashok Leyland sold 5,221 units of LCVs in December 2023, 9% less than the 5,713 units sold in December 2022. Total vehicle sales (domestic + exports) in December 2023 were at 16,324 units, a decline of 10% compared to 18,138 units sold in December 2022. Total MHCV sales for December 2023 were reported to be at 10,800 units, compared to 12,262 units in December 2022, which is a 12% dip. LCV sales were recorded to be at 5,524 units compared to 5,876 units in December 2022, decreasing 9% YoY.
