BMW Group India has reported its highest-ever half-yearly car sales, showcasing strong performance in the first half of 2024 (January – June). The company delivered a total of 7,098 cars (BMW and MINI) and 3,614 motorcycles (BMW Motorrad), with BMW alone accounting for 6,734 units and MINI for 364 units. This marks a significant +21% increase in car sales (BMW + MINI) compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of 2024, the company sold 397 units of fully electric BMW and MINI cars. The BMW i7 emerged as the top-selling BMW EV in this period, highlighting the growing interest in sustainable mobility among high-end consumers.
The BMW iX remains the most popular luxury EV in India, with over 1,000 units sold to date. BMW Group India offers an extensive range of six electric vehicles, including the BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW i4, BMW iX1, and MINI SE. This range is set to expand further in July with the launch of the MINI Countryman E and BMW CE 04, the first electric two-wheeler by BMW Motorrad India.
BMW’s Luxury Class vehicles, including the BMW 7 Series, BMW i7, BMW X7, and BMW XM, saw impressive growth of +17%, contributing 18% to total sales. The BMW X7 was the highest-selling model in this category.
Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) also performed strongly, accounting for 54% of total sales and achieving a growth rate of +24%. The BMW X1 was the most popular SAV, representing around 19% of sales. The 3 Series continued its success as the highest-selling BMW sedan, with a 17% share of sales.
