(Reuters) – BMW is recalling 291,112 vehicles in the U.S. as their interior cargo rails could detach during a rear crash, increasing the risk of injury, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday.
Dealers will replace the rear cargo rail attachment bolts for free, the regulator said.
The recall affects some X3 sDrive30i, X3 xDrive30i, X3 M40i, and X3 M vehicles manufactured between 2018 and 2023.
