MG Motor India received a fresh lease of life after forming a joint venture with JSW, giving birth to JSW-MG earlier this year. As a part of the new entity, the automaker plans to introduce one new model every 3-6 months, with the first product set to arrive during the festive season later this year.
MG-JSW will launch two new models this financial year, and the first model is now confirmed as the Cloud EV. The model, which will be introduced in September 2024, has already been patented in India, hinting that the launch is just around the corner.
The Cloud EV, a five-door crossover, will rival the likes of the BYD e6, and is expected to get a new name for the Indian market. It will be the first fresh offering from the brand since the Comet EV that was launched in April 2023.
In international markets, the MG Cloud EV is sold with two battery pack options: 50.6kWh and 37.9KWh. These battery packs, paired with an electric motor, are claimed to return a range of 460km and 360km, respectively. The model is expected to arrive with a price tag in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
