New Delhi, India: BYD India, a subsidiary of the world’s leading New Energy Vehicles (NEV) manufacturer BYD, sees Mr. Rajeev Chauhan takes on the role of Vice President of the Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India. He takes over from Mr. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan as he retires after over three decades in Indian Automotive Industry with his last stint that saw him set up the EV Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India.
Mr. Rajeev Chauhan is an accomplished automotive leader. In a career spanning over 25 years, he has worked with Honda Cars India and Volvo Car India among other names. He has driven innovative strategies across multiple domains of retail network, customer experience, electrification, direct sales, product development, customer service and digital transformation. His focus on optimising retail capacity with a strong customer orientation has redefined customer experiences, elevated market share, created a highly profitable dealer network and eventually company profitability. He will spearhead the overall electric passenger vehicle business of BYD India.
Speaking on his retirement, Mr. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, outgoing Senior Vice President, Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, stated: “The world is at the cusp of a brighter and more sustainable future. Speaking on his retirement, Mr. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, outgoing Senior Vice President, Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, stated: “I consider it my good fortune to have worked, learnt and grown in what I think to be one of the most dynamic and exciting industries in India and the world. I can’t ask for a better way to bow out than to retire at the pinnacle of eco-sensitive, sustainable motoring, which is the blueprint for the future.”
BYD recently maintained its position among the top-10 in the Kantar BrandZ Global Automotive Brands rankings for 2024. This is the second consecutive year that BYD has featured in the top-10 of these prestigious rankings with a brand value exceeding US$10 Billion. In 2023, BYD’s global car sales surpassed 3.02 million units. To date, BYD has sold over 7.6 million NEVs. In India, the company sells the e6 electric MPV, the ATTO 3 electric SUV and its latest launch is the BYD SEAL, a luxury electric sedan with a line-up that has a range of upto 650 kms, can accelerate to 100kph in upto 3.8 seconds, is equipped with Cell To Body (CTB) technology, and has ADAS Level 2 and 9 airbags among other features.
