Oliver Blume is a German automotive executive and one of the prominent leaders in the global automotive industry. He serves as CEO of Volkswagen Group and Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, leading one of the world’s largest automotive groups.
Oliver Blume studied Mechanical Engineering at TU Braunschweig, graduating in 1994. He later completed his doctoral studies in vehicle engineering at the Institute of Vehicle Technology at Tongji University in Shanghai, receiving his Doctor of Engineering degree in 2001.
He began his professional career in 1994 with AUDI AG through its international trainee programme. Over the following years, he held several management positions covering body construction, production planning and logistics. His responsibilities included leadership roles in Audi A3 body construction, the Audi pilot plant, and planning and pilot-series operations at SEAT S.A. in Barcelona.
In 2009, Oliver Blume moved to Wolfsburg as Head of Production Planning at the Volkswagen brand. In 2013, he joined the Executive Board of Porsche AG, taking responsibility for Production and Logistics. He became Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG in 2015, a position he held until the end of 2025.
Since 2018, Oliver Blume has also been a Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG. In September 2022, he became Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and CEO of Volkswagen Group, taking responsibility for the strategic direction and performance of the Group’s global automotive business.
As CEO of Volkswagen Group, Oliver Blume is leading the company through a period of major transformation in the automotive industry. His priorities include electric mobility, digitalization, automotive technology, sustainable manufacturing, operational efficiency, and future mobility solutions.
His extensive leadership experience across Audi, SEAT, Volkswagen and Porsche has given him a broad understanding of automotive production, global operations, premium automotive brands and technology-driven transformation. This experience continues to shape Volkswagen Group’s approach to the rapidly changing global mobility landscape.
