Tata Motors posted CY sales of 3,31,178 units in CY21, highest ever since inception!

Tata Motors has emerged as India’s second-largest manufacturer of passenger vehicles for the month of December 2021 by overtaking Hyundai! 2021 has been a stellar year for Tata Motors and the OEM has achieved several benchmarks in the Calendar Year –

 Tata Motors posted calendar year sales of 3,31,178 units (CY21), the highest ever since the inception of the PV Business!
  • Decade high quarterly sales of 99,002 units in Q3 FY22 (growth of 44% vs Q3 FY21).

  • Recorded a 10-year high monthly sales of 35,299 units in Dec’21 (growth of 50% vs Dec’20).

  • EV sales witnessed a new peak of 5,592 units in Q3 FY22 (growth of 345% vs Q3 FY21).

  • EV penetration touched 5.6% of PV Sales during the quarter versus 1.8% in the same period last financial year

  • EV sales also touched 10,000 units in 9MFY22 and crossed 2,000 monthly sales landmark for the first time in Dec’21 (2,255 units).

  • Tata Motors PV business has set several new milestones during the year despite witnessing a shortfall in production due to the ongoing semi-conductor crisis. The successful launch of Tata Punch in Oct’21 is further boosting demand for the company’s “New Forever” range of cars and SUVs.

  • Tata Motors recorded a YoY growth of 50 percent in December 2021 when compared to the same period last year. It was the only OEM in the Top 3 to record positive growth in volumes.

  • Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer registered domestic volumes of 1,30,869 units and sales fell by 13 percent in Dec’21 vs Dec’20.

  • Hyundai slipped to the third spot and recorded the highest drop in volumes in Dec’21.
