Source : PTI | Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik on Monday warned of strict action against drivers of private buses if the vehicles enter the 200-metre radius around MSRTC bus stands and lure passengers.
After inspecting the central bus stand in Akola city, Sarnaik said IPS-rank officers have been appointed within the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to ensure that appropriate action, including registering criminal cases, is taken against errant drivers of private buses.
He expressed displeasure over the deficiency in cleanliness at many bus stations in Maharashtra, even though restroom use is made free for passengers from June 1.
“A comprehensive cleanliness drive has been launched, and sanitation and repair works will be completed in phases,” he added.
