Delhi launches EV subsidy portal under new policy to boost adoption

Source : PTI | Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched a portal to claim subsidies under the recently launched Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026.

The Delhi EV Subsidy Portal (https://evsubsidy.delhi.gov.in) provides information about the essential documents such as Aadhaar, the vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) and Voter ID which would be required.

Once a person registers on the portal, a One Time Password (OTP) is sent on the mobile number for verification and to process the application further.

“Eligible beneficiaries will be able to apply through the EV Subsidy Portal within 30 days of purchasing their vehicle and receiving the Registration Certificate (RC). The government aims to transfer the subsidy directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within 60 days,” she said.

Gupta said that the portal has been designed to be simple, fast, transparent and completely digital, enabling eligible citizens to access all services from home.

“The portal will allow citizens and institutions to apply online from home for electric vehicle purchase incentives and other benefits. Applicants will be able to track the status of their applications in real time at every stage, ensuring complete transparency,” Gupta said further in a statement.

Gupta said the government will invest more than ₹7,000 crore over the next four years to implement the new EV Policy.

The policy includes purchase incentives, scrapping incentives, development of charging infrastructure and exemptions from road tax and registration fees, providing substantial financial benefits to eligible EV buyers.

Under the policy, incentives of up to ₹30,000 will be available for electric two-wheelers, up to ₹50,000 for electric three-wheelers and up to ₹1 lakh for N-1 category electric trucks. Additional incentives will also be provided for scrapping old polluting vehicles, with benefits varying across different vehicle categories.

Gupta said that the policy is designed in a way to provide relief to buyers of two-wheelers, three-wheelers and cars.

“This policy is new and better in itself because it has both subsidy and incentive for scrapping. We have waived the road tax and registration fee for vehicles up to ₹30 lakh, she said at the launch event.

The Delhi government on Wednesday notified the new policy, which aims to accelerate electric vehicle adoption, improve air quality, and create a supportive ecosystem for electric mobility.
