Hyundai continued to be India’s second-largest OEM in the month of June 2021 as 40,496 units were dispatched against 21,320 units during the same period in 2020 with a Year-on-Year growth of 90 percent. The dispatches also grew 62 percent in June 2021 against May 2021. The South Korean major grabbed a 15.9 percent Market Share with a decrease of 8.3 percent over May 2021 (source).
Commenting on the June 2021 sales, Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor India Ltd., has hinted that with markets opening up and improvement in customer sentiments, Hyundai is witnessing sales revival. The automaker has recently introduced its Alcazar SUV. Garg said the Alcazar has been receiving a pretty good customer response and setting some new benchmarks in the industry.

June 2021 was a historic month for Hyundai as the OEM recorded its one crore car production feat last month.

Hyundai’s Creta has now been a consistent flag bearer for the brand is now dominating the Top Slot for the OEM. It again emerged as the best-selling Hyundai for the month with dispatches of 9,941 units. Creta was also the best-Mid-SUV in the country for June 2021 with a YoY growth of 38 percent and MoM growth of 32 percent.

Hyundai is now India’s biggest UV manufacturer and is backed by 3 strong models – Creta, Venue, and the latest newcomer Alcazar. However, Venue slipped as Hyundai’s fourth best-selling car in June’21 and around 4,865 units were dispatched last month. Venue sales were lower than the Kia sibling Sonet’s volumes in June 2021.

Grand i10 saw an increase of 145 percent YoY and ranked second on the list. It was able to outsell the elder sibling i20 by quite a margin.

The New i20 surprisingly sold more than Venue and placed itself in the third spot.

Aura sales saw a spurt with an increase in demand for its CNG variants and now over 32 percent of the model volumes come from CNG (source). The model ranked fifth in June 2021 with dispatches of 3,126 units.

Alcazar has been able to pip models like Verna and Santro in Hyundai’s portfolio and ranked sixth in June 2021. The model has been priced aggressively and is expected to strengthen Hyundai’s hold in the SUV segment even further.

Verna still fights to make a strong presence in the Executive Sedan segment and emerged to be the segment’s second bestseller in June 2021! Verna finished in the seventh position for the OEM with 2,181 units dispatched in June’21 as against 1,083 units in June’20 with a 101 percent increase in volumes.

Santro ranked eighth and a total of 2,039 units were shipped in June 2021 as against 1,513 units in June 2020 with 35 percent growth.
