SEOUL,(Reuters) – Hyundai Motor on Thursday said it would seek to more than double its China sales in the medium term and it planned to launch 36 new models in the North American market by 2030.

- At its annual shareholder meeting, Hyundai Motor CEO Jose Munoz said the South Korean automaker aims to sell 500,000 vehicles annually in China as part of its medium-term efforts, which would be more than double its current volumes.
- In North America, Hyundai Motor said it plans to introduce 36 new models by 2030 in what it described as its most profitable region.
- The figure includes variants of each vehicle model, such as electric, hybrid and gasoline-powered versions. Hyundai currently sells 25 models in North America, which includes the U.S. market with 20 models.
- Shares of Hyundai Motor were trading down 2.5% at 0258 GMT, compared with the benchmark KOSPI index’s 3.1% drop.
