Reenat Sandhu

Reenat Sandhu is a senior Indian diplomat and former member of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), widely recognized for her contributions to India’s global diplomacy and foreign policy framework. Born on 7 June 1964, she has held several high-level diplomatic and administrative roles within the Ministry of External Affairs.

Reenat Sandhu joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1989 and served in key international postings including Moscow, Kyiv, Washington D.C., Colombo, New York, and Geneva. Her work has spanned trade promotion, multilateral negotiations, and strategic international cooperation.

She served as Ambassador of India to Italy and San Marino (2017–2020) and later as Ambassador to the Netherlands, where she played a significant role in strengthening bilateral relations and diplomatic engagement.

She also held senior leadership roles within the Ministry of External Affairs, including Additional Secretary (Indo-Pacific, South & Oceania) and Secretary (West), contributing to India’s foreign policy strategy and global outreach.

An alumna of the Delhi School of Economics, she holds a Master’s degree in Economics. She is married to Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and they have two children.
