Today, India mourns the loss of Madhur Bajaj, a distinguished industrialist and former Vice Chairman of Bajaj Auto, who passed away in Mumbai at the age of 73. Born on August 19, 1952, he was the grandson of Jamnalal Bajaj, the founder of the Bajaj Group, and cousin to the late Rahul Bajaj.
Madhur Bajaj’s career was marked by significant contributions to the Bajaj Group and the broader Indian industry. He held key positions across various group companies, including Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Electricals, Bajaj Finance, and Maharashtra Scooters. His leadership extended beyond the corporate realm as he served as president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).
His tenure was characterized by a commitment to excellence and innovation. Notably, he played a pivotal role in developing India’s first Automotive Mission Plan (2006–16), which laid the foundation for the country’s robust automotive industry. His efforts in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, including initiatives with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), showcased his vision for a progressive industrial landscape.  
Madhur Bajaj’s passing is a significant loss to the business community. His legacy of leadership, innovation, and commitment to industrial growth will continue to inspire future generations. He is survived by his family, who, along with countless colleagues and admirers, mourn his departure.
