Its been around 15 years, Iacocca has been out of the Professional Motown World. Philanthropy and then coping up with Parkinsons kept him busy. Yet the entire world especially the Motown feels gloomy and reminiscent on his departure!

A person who came close to running for the POTUS! The Turnaround Champion! The Master Cracker-Jack Salesman! The Creator of Ford Mustang. The person who saved Chrysler from Bankruptcy
3 Crucial Things so that Only EVs Sold after 2030.
by Anuj Guglani, CEO World Auto Forum
The entire world going Ga-Ga over EVs. But we need these 3 crucial things in place before 100% EV, else we shall be creating a Bigger Monster!
There is a huge Buzz around EVs. The Buzz is not just regional, its a global one!
2 Years back at the SIAM annual convention, our Honble Transport Minister had shaken the entire Industry by giving the target of 100% EV Post 2030. It sent most auto makers to their war rooms. A few weeks thereafter, the govt went soft on the deadline, for an industry already overburdened with BS6, New Safety Rules, CCI Norms, Dealer Inventories, NBFC Meltdown, GST, Phew!

What if 1 Lakh Connected Vehicles get hacked in a city simultaneously? We don’t even have a law on it as yet!
By Anuj Guglani CEO , World Auto Forum
Yes! this can be a sad reality, if we don’t know do something about it Now!
The Time to “Act” is “Now”!
20 Years back, one would read the news of just computers getting hacked. If back in 1990 someone had said, your car, or your fridge can be hacked. People would have laughed their guts out! Well now computers run everything! And they are connected, so in short, anything can get hacked!
Whether its Power Grids, Transportation, Buildings, Public Infrastructures…list goes on..
IOT – Internet of Things or IOE – Internet of Everything are Great concepts. They are getting Big Push from the Govts, Enthusiastic IT Cos & Telcos! Well, all this is Nice!
But the problem lies in the fact that the “Design Genesis” of most Non IT Assets lies not in the present decade but in the last three or four decades. So by design our cars, fridges were not supposed to be IoT and IoE Enabled.
So, When you do make them IoT enabled now, the basic design doesn’t guarantee Security unless the accessing networks are super secure!
Most Car Service Aggregators offering an Uber, Customers need an Oyo!
by Anuj Guglani, CEO World Auto Forum
Whats’s with Uber that works fab while hailing a Cab but goes miserably wrong when applied to a Car Service Centre. Well here it is..
Its been ages I went to a workshop to get my car serviced. Its always been picked and dropped. So instead of me visiting the Workshop, the latter would visit me each time!
I have taken my car mostly to the Authorised OEM Workshop. Now that the car got a bit old and thus out of warranty, I thought of experimenting these new age Car Service App based Aggregators.
So more for the Experience, I reached out to one of the app Co’s.
What follow s is nothing against the company or the workshop. On the contrary the app and their staff put in great effort in ensuring a good experience. But the entire model seems to be designed to create confusion and trauma. Here’s why ..
Key Difference between Uber and Car Service Aggregators

“I’m so sorry Ma’am”, cried the Fuel station Attendant. “I have accidentally fuelled your Diesel Car with Petrol!”
This happened with my Wife last month during a routine visit at the “Petrol Pump”. Seems the guy took it literally! She immediately called me. The first thing I asked her, “How much Petrol went in?” Thankfully the petrol fed, was just a litre. Not much of a worry. I asked her to wait for a while and get the vehicle tanked up with diesel. It was all fine.
However it wasn’t this easy. I too was a bit taken aback and wanted professional help & ratification of my actions. I called up the dealership. Noone picked up. Then I remembered I had the CRE no saved from last service reminder. We all know how many service reminder calls we get! The calls continue even after we have sold the car! The CRE took the call in first ring. I shared the incident. She was shocked and wanted to help.
I could sense she was running around her office, looking for the right person to guide me. She said, “Sir I shall make you speak to my manager.” thereafter I heard a middle aged male’s voice, sounding very busy. “Bataye, kya Hua?” he asked. I narrated the incident. He snubbed me mid way, asking, “Apko mera no kisne diya? Yeh mera kaam nahin hai!”
I didnt feel like wasting my breath in explaining that your CRE thought you are capable to help the customer, sadly you aren’t. I thought I shouldn’t waste time in saying,”You don’t even realise you are saying all these things to a customer in distress, who pays for your bills, Your kids school fees, your parents medicines, your movie tickets and your vacations. And that, this call wasn’t transferred. The CRE handed over her handphone to you to speak. Probably you just rattled out a standard line, which you say to most customers who need your help!

Indian Automobile Industry Poised to take the World stage
Indian Automobile Industry Poised to take the World stage
Front page of ET, Saturday September 1, 2018 carries the Headline “ With 8.2% Growth, Economy begins FY19 on a High Note”. Positive news indeed which should bring cheer to all. A more detailed probing of the news reveals that the Indian Economy grew at its fastest in 2 years and was propelled by double digit growth in manufacturing at 13.5%. From a 7.7% GDP in FY-16 Q1 to 8.2%in FY-19 Q1 this is a sign that all longed for namely “ Acche Din round the Corner”. It is heartening that India’s growth for the quarter is well above that of China and seems we are maintaining our status as the World’s Fastest Growing Economy.
Given the above I am compelled to go on a nostalgic trip down memory lane and bring out some statistics of how modestly we started and are now as front runners:
1897- The first car that plied on Indian roads.
1901-The first Indian to own a car in 1901 was Jamshedji Tata.
1930’s- India was an Importer
1940’s India started manufacturing
1942, Hindustan Motors manufactured the first automobile in India before independence.
1952-The automobile sector formally came into being when the Government appointed its first tariff commission with the aim of indigenizing this industry. Introduction of passenger cars in the country
1950’s to 1960’s saw trade restrictions which hampered the growth of the Automobile Industry.

Why are Elon Musk & his investors losing Sleep due to an Indian Automotive / Tractor Co ?
It was a regular review call with investors for Elon Musk earlier this month. Musk goes all guns blazing with them and Tesla stock pays for it. A loss of US$ 2 Billion in share value in a day. Why are Elon and his investors at loggerheads?

As per Bloomberg, “Tesla ended 2017 with $3.4 billion in cash on hand and $9.4 billion in outstanding debt, a testament to Musk’s borrowing prowess”. The Flagship & most expensive Model S accounts for more than half the total Company revenue last year. And this year the model 3 becomes the Best Selling electric car in the US. Now that’s one Extreme Product Portfolio Shift!
